What is humanity? How did we come to be? The very question of our origin sparks the very interest that gave us intelligence. It forces us to ask the questions of HOW and above all WHY. Some believe that humanity was created by a being greater than ourselves in any number of days they suggest. Others believe that humanity is the end result of many years of evolution. Each side has its own proofs and backup for their particular statement. There is a great amount of faith, and science involved in the explanation for how humans came to be and it appears that most people look at the past to find the answers to where we may be going. To me, I feel that where we have been reflects on where we are today, but does not decide the ultimate whereabouts of our future. Our past has been quite eventful according to ALL scientists and believers and the entire course of human history has displayed the potential humans have for both good, and evil. I think it is safe to say that there are beings greater than us out there and whether they chose to create us or not, our fate can still be changed by our own hands. It is in my belief that humans are not destined for anything. The destiny of mankind depends on what actions they make today and tomorrow. It cannot be written in stone. And if we truly have no control over our fates, then we are truly not sentient, but merely under the control of something that may or may not be sentient itself. There is something uncomfortable about thinking that ones fate is sealed and that no action no matter how drastic will make a difference.
